‘Gaṇa’ monitoring solution

One of the biggest challenges in an agricultural mitigation project is to implement the project activities at the farmers’ plot level. Secondly, implementing the project at scale across thousands of hectares is nested within. This is especially crucial for implementing agricultural mitigation projects in smallholder farmer landscapes. Here at Kosher, we are creating a software solution addressing these two challenges.

‘Gaṇa’ (ಗಣ) in Sanskrit means to count. Gaṇa is being built as a farmer plot-level management tool that serves the following purpose:

1) Farmer would be able to get the plot and crop-specific management advisory

2) Register with Kosher to implement carbon mitigation projects

3) Record activity implementation data through a simple interface in regional languages

Gaṇa is being built to be simplest such that farmers across the country with varied tech-affinity can still be able to use the application. While in the back end, Gaṇa holds the most cutting-edge knowledge base of agriculture, emission reduction as well as crop management decision support systems. We have also created a simple dashboard for our project partners who would assist the farmers in adopting improved agricultural practices. Gaṇa is also an active channel for us to reach our farmers instantly and support her/him through the entire crop cycle.

We are currently testing the app across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
